Sara Voss has dedicated her life to bettering early childcare.
With over 20 years dedicated to early childhood education, Sara’s professional journey has equipped her with a deep understanding of the field’s challenges and rewards. Her love for working with children of all ages and their families is vast.
With her experience and love for the field, her passion has brought her to the Lincoln Littles team, where she is managing the Tuition Assistance and Quality.
Sara was first introduced to Lincoln Littles as part of a group of directors who helped provide feedback on the organization’s initial concept. She developed a strong bond and admiration for their mission, which motivated her to join the team and take an active role in fulfilling their goal of “elevating care”.
Now, in her new role, Sara is excited to continue her work of ensuring that there are “quality programs that are serving to fill the gap” in early childhood, ensuring that no one slips through the cracks and goes unnoticed in the care that they deserve.
Sara’s career journey includes five years as a first-grade teacher at a Title I school, followed by a transition to early childhood education after she realized the high cost of quality childcare for her own family. This personal experience sparked her passion for helping families afford and find quality childcare.
Prior to joining Lincoln Littles, she served in child care administration for 20 years. Additionally, she worked as a trainer for the Department of Education and as a Step Up to Quality Coach and Observer.
After becoming a mother, Sara realized just how high the cost of quality childcare is in Nebraska. This financial reality led her to become an assistant director, and eventually director, at a childcare center, helping to drive her passion for helping families find and afford quality childcare.
Sara has several exciting projects on the horizon, including continuing Lincoln Littles’ mentorship program for directors to collaborate and learn from one another. She also plans to encourage more centers to participate in the Step Up to Quality program by highlighting the benefits of participation. Sara looks forward to “hearing other people’s stories about positive impacts they’ve helped make and creating relationships with providers”. She hopes her work will continue to “elevate early childhood” and provide support where it’s needed most.
